After a warm welcome to November, the chilly air will certainly be on its way! Some holiday crafting classes and markets are beginning to pop up this month, which is perfect for planning (or creating) your gifts early. Check out the shops in Old Ellicott City on Small Business Saturday, where the holiday window displays are beginning to be set up now. The Symphony of Lights returns to Merriweather this month too! Holiday Preview Party @ Sweet Elizabeth Jane in Old Ellicott City (11/3 11 a.m.) – Join us on Thursday for the first look at our 2022 Holiday collection in the store. Thursday night at 8pm we will be launching our online collection!
Annual Pumpkin Chucking @ Clarks Elioak Farm (11/5 – 11/6 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – This weekend we will have our Annual Pumpkin Chucking! So bring your old jack-o-lanterns and watch them fly down the field!
Holiday Art Classes @ AR Workshop (Throughout the Month) – Join us at AR Workshop Columbia MD for a Specialty workshop featuring our NEW winter projects: Holiday Sleds & Skis! In the workshop, you will have the opportunity to customize your project with your choice of (non-toxic!) stain and designer paint colors.
Howard County Crafts Spectacular @ Howard County Fairgrounds (11/4-11/6) – We will have over 360 crafters filling the Main Building (including New Addition), six barns, Small Building and outside at the fairgrounds in West Friendship, MD.
Join the Adventure with BSA Scouting @ Wilde Lake Interfaith Center (11/7/2022 7:00-8:30 PM) Boys and Girls ages 11-17 are invited to the BSA Scout Troops Open House. Families will meet with scouts from over 12 Troops, and learn how you can join the adventure — camping, hiking, kayaking, STEM, leadership, service, citizenship, and more! BSA Scouting is a great way for families to try out new experiences.
Maryland Alpaca & Fleece Festival @ Howard County Fairgrounds (11/12 – 11/13) – Come join us for this great fall festival with live alpacas, yarn & fiber, handmade goods, classes, demonstrations and an alpaca fleece sale. See the 4H alpacas-in-costume parade, family friendly, food on site, holiday fiber-gift shopping.
Santa’s Arrival with Lisa & Mikel of Milkshake @ The Mall in Columbia (11/17 10 – 11 a.m.) – Join Family Fun Day at the Lower Level Lord & Taylor Court to greet Santa when he arrives!

Holiday Tree Lighting @ Color Burst (11/18 5:30 – 9 p.m.) – Join us for the Merriweather District Tree Lighting. Rain date: November 19th.
Pet Nights with Santa @ The Columbia Mall (11/21 – 12/5 4-7 p.m.) – Get your furry friends together to strike a pose with St. Nick, capturing paw-fect holiday moments to share with family and friends.
Small Business Saturday @ Old Ellicott City (11/26 10 a.m.) – Be among the first to see the Old Ellicott City holiday sparkle AND pick up your OEC Holiday Bucks at the Shop Small Saturday kick off event happening at the Welcome Center at noon. Bucks are valued at $10 and are accepted by all OEC businesses through December 31.

Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K @ Long Gate Shopping Center (11/24 8:30 a.m.) – Perfect for adults, teenagers, children, and even your pup, the Y Turkey Trot is more than a 5K. It’s a fun, healthy, family-friendly community event bursting with optimism and good vibes! Registrants receive several gifts, including a complimentary Y membership good for up to 30 days until December 31, 2022! New members only.
Festive Families: A Walk Through Symphony of Lights @ Merriweather (11/27, 12/6, 12/8 and 12/31) – The Symphony of Lights has been a time-honored Howard County holiday tradition enjoyed by many for over 25 years. Set in historic Merriweather Post Pavilion and made up of more than 300,000 bulbs, this family-oriented spectacular is a dazzling display of larger-than-life animated and stationary holiday light creations. With the addition of new lights (and a 150 foot screen!), your time through our refreshed course guarantees a night to remember.
Holiday Train Garden @ Gary J Arthur Community Center (11/28 – 1/6 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.) – Enjoy holiday fun provided by train enthusiast Dennis Moore. The layout features four continuously operating trains through an 8’ x 8’ scenic garden. Visitors of all ages enjoy an interactive exhibit of accessories and sounds. Train garden open during center hours.
