My daughter, who plays lacrosse on a highly competitive club team, is super sporty. When I explained what the party is like — kids’ soccer games on turf! Video game contests!! — her eyes lit up and got big.
About World Cup Pop Up Party
Mike Steenstra, the planner behind the World Cup Pop Up wanted to design a kid-friendly space for families to enjoy the World Cup. He has a 4 and 2-year-old who will be joining in on the fun with a Crab Kickers clinic!

Dates
From November 21 – 27 (with the exception of Thanksgiving) and then for the final USA game on November 29th, they’re playing all 11am and 2pm games in the Watch Party space.
About the Space
They’ve partnered with SoFive in Columbia, Maryland because the space perfectly fits the mission of the pop-up. There will be three main sections of the party.
The Field
The field is where they will be running high-level pick-up games from 9am – 11am each morning. Then offering a clinic for younger players from 11am – 12pm. Then free play from 12pm – 1pm for kids to just be kids on the field. Then a “half time” show with prizes and giveaways from 1pm – 2pm. They’re thinking “Beat the Keeper” or “Cross Bar Challenge” with some music and an emcee. Then free play again during the 2pm.
The Bar Area
This area is equipped with 7 TVs and located right next to the field and cafe/bar area. So you can keep an eye on your kids and catch the games while doing so. They’re also planning on having some kid’s activities (soccer sticker station, coloring, panini sticker trading table) set-up in this area as well. The main attraction in this area will be the video game lounge, where they plan to have a few video game contests! Please note that the video game lounge will only be available Saturday and Sunday and will require a small extra fee to participate.
The Viewing Deck
High above the SoFive Soccer Complex is an awesome little lounge area. They’re thinking projection screen up there, couches, soccer vendors, and just great vibes for cheering on your favorite team.
