Synopsis

Jake Young (Lawson Touliatos) wants nothing more than to spend his Christmas vacation with his girlfriend, Abbey Walker (Leela Owen). So when Abbey volunteers for her church’s Christmas play, Jake is ready to skip Christmas this year until an unexpected turn of events lands him in a field outside Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. While on his journey with the shepherds to find the promised Messiah, Jake discovers the true meaning of Christmas.

It’s Christmas Again Movie Review

As the movie began, it felt like a Christmas spin on Disney’s Zombies musical movies. Characters danced and sang along the beautifully-decorated streets. Everything was cheery and merry, until the main character Jake showed some selfishness and not caring about others during the holiday season.

Then, SMACK! An injury turned his holiday spinning in a new, more meaningful direction. The historical scenes had fantastic costume design, and they continued to have fun, entertaining music.

Convincing my children to watch a Christian movie for Christmas can be a challenge. There is so much engaging entertainment available across a variety of platforms competing for their attention this season. However, the energy and writing of the musical was totally their style!

The focus on a typical teenager and his relationship also made the movie easier for some tweens to relate to since only a portion of the movie took place long ago. Just to know ahead of time, there is one mention of going to a party and skipping out on other family and church responsibilities.

Watching the movie was a nice reminder that watching Christian movies at Christmas should always be a tradition! I highly recommend watching It’s Christmas Again this holiday season for ages 9+.
